I followed the directions here and consulted the posts here and here and here and here and here and so on to no avail.

I have only tested one page, probably should test a few more complex graphics but for now I’m a very happy beother. Connecting the printer to the wireless AP was a breeze — simply connect the printer via wire to either the PC via USB or the router via ethernet and do the config using either the web interface built into the printer or the software.
At least until that first test page comes out okay. Printing speed is back to normal.

Then for the sake of troubleshooting I tried it on the Windows machine. But when I activate it, the error message comes up again and deactivates the printer automatically. I used Windows XP in VirtualBox to configure it, the printer configuration in Ubuntu was able to see it on the wireless network and connected just as easily as it did via USB.
This solves my general printing slowness as pages go to the printer immediately. From another thread I found a link to a PPD file that can be used to install your printer, however those posters were using Ubuntu 8.
And the static IP is set if you need to update the wireless info at any point in the future. Release the Go button. Confirm that the setup is successful. Lots of other people on the ubuntu forums hl-210 to be complaining about slow printing so I suspect that it is not only the HLW printer driver that is bad. I have a Brother laser printer HL which wasn’t on the printer driver’s list, so instead I used the driver for HL and it worked. I checked items 1, 2, and 3 as listed in the message above from Maximus. I did not check this box.
If printer is not found automatically, type in IP address of the printer and probe for it. It says you can use the HLN cups driver. Sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email.
